Ergonomics, precision, and secure holding power are available with the new, versatile lineup of AMWPD-series pneumatic pull clamps, clamping screws, and clamping pins from  Fixtureworks®, a leading North American manufacturer and supplier of clamps, fixturing accessories, machine tool components, and rollers and bumpers.

AMWPD-W pneumatic pull clamps, ideal for 5-axis machining, provide very quick and secure fastening for repetitive machining operations. The ergonomic operation of the clamping base and easy loading of parts make these clamping systems ideal for high volume, repetitive jobs. When air pressure is applied to the pull clamp, the pin or screw is pulled downward and secured into position by a wedge mechanism, which provides a high clamping force.

The wedge mechanism can increase the clamping force up to 200 percent compared to the air cylinder of the same size. Clamping bases are offered in 75- and 10-mm diameters with clamping forces of 200 and 550 pounds, respectively. The clamp base, made from 1045 induction hardened steel with a black oxide finish, receives a clamping screw or pin with a customized length based on the thickness of the part the user is clamping.

AMWPD-M clamping screws are designed for use with the pneumatic pull clamps. These screws attach directly to the bottom of the workpiece or fixture, with the opposite end clamping into the clamping base. For additional precise positioning of the workpiece, they can be used with locating pins. The screw body is made from quenched and tempered 4135 steel with a black oxide finish. Lengths of 38mm and 48mm are offered in various thread sizes ranging from M8 to M16. Custom clamping screw thread sizes are also available upon request.

The AMWPD clamping pins are also designed for use with the pneumatic pull clamps. Clamping pins are provided with precision ground diameters to fit through holes in workpieces. They allow for easy modification by users to accommodate actual thickness of a workpiece.

Custom pin lengths are available and are also designed with a 1mm adjustability of the length to fit the actual workpiece thickness. The body is made from precision group induction hardened 4135 steel.
