Special Announcement: AGMA Recruiting VP, Technical Division

The AGMA’s current Technical Division vice president will be retiring soon, and the association is accepting applications for the replacement. This position is the senior technical employee of the association and reports to the president. He/She is responsible for the management and operation of all technical activities, including: those related to the development and maintenance of U.S. and international standards; for development and operation of several technical programs, conferences, and seminars; for relationships with outside contractors, vendors, and educators; for operation of the member committees necessary for the association’s technical programs; for relationships with domestic and international members and prospects, associations, universities, and other organizations as necessary.

The VP currently manages a staff of three—an engineer, an editor, and an assistant. The active participation of member volunteers is critical to the success of the AGMA technical program, and this position is responsible for the management these relationships and the recruitment of volunteers.   • An engineering degree with sufficient experience in the gear industry to be conversant with the technology.
  • A working knowledge of and experience with the standards development process and the procedures of ANSI and ISO, for both national and international, ISO, standards.
  • The proven ability to manage staff and other resources.
  • Effective member relations, particularly an ability to communicate the established priorities and/or expectations of the association’s members and balance them with available resources.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, as well as an effective public speaking presence.
