‍Federal Broach, a division of Nidec Machine Tool Corporation of Japan, exhibited its vertical rising table broach machine (VRT) for the first time at the recent Motion + Power Expo.

The machine is capable of fully automatic broaching of internal spur splines. In addition, the companion Federal Broach tools were available for show attendees to review.

“The new vertical rising table broaching machine is our newest and most flexible machine, and we are proud to be exhibiting if for the first time at the Motion + Power Expo in Detroit,” said Ken Kernen, president of Federal Broach. “The machine can be built with five to 20 tons of force for a wide range of applications. Capable of hard broaching, the VRT has a small footprint and is suitable for mass production as well as job shop installations. The modular design allows the force, stroke, tool length, coolant type, and CNC control type to be tailored to the exact needs of the customer.”

In addition to the VRT machine, Federal Broach promoted its broach tool design and manufacturing expertise, as well as gear tool sales, in-house sharpening, and in-house re-coating services. In conjunction with Southeast Broach in Greer, South Carolina, virtually all types of gear cutting and broaching tools can be supplied and serviced. Kernen said Federal Broach is installing additional coating capabilities to meet the growing demand for cutting tool services.

A Nidec group company, Federal Broach & Machine of Harrison, Michigan, is the distribution and service company for Nidec gear-cutting tools. They also provide full-service sharpening and recoating services for all brands of tools.
