In a recent press release, Bodycote Materials Testing (BMT) announced that its Chicago laboratory has received "Special Process Certification" as an approved "Metallic Testing Laboratory" for the General Electric Aircraft Engine group. This approval compliments the Chicago laboratory’s existing quality accreditations, including NADCAP, A2LA, ISO 17025, NUPIC, and NIAC. The laboratory also holds numerous customer-based approvals such as Allegheny Technologies, Boeing, Ford Motor, General Motors Powertrain Div., Honeywell, Northrop Grumman, and Pratt & Whitney, among others.

BMT’s Chicago laboratory is GEAE approved, in accordance with their S-400 document for chemical analysis, mechanical testing, and general metallurgy. This approval is an important milestone in the laboratory’s drive to service aerospace and IGT customers, and it will compliment and support Bodycote’s other GEAE-approved U.S. laboratories in Los Angeles and Portland. In addition, it will allow additional services to be provided to the Bodycote Thermal Processing group, where they previously used non-group subcontractors for materials testing of GEAE parts.
