AGMA recognizes gear industry professionals at technical conference

At the American Gear Manufacturers Association’s (AGMA) annual Fall Technical Meeting (FTM) October, an awards luncheon was held to recognize many individuals who have contributed to the technical community through standards development, education, and leadership in AGMA.

More than 130 people gathered from Brazil, Canada, China, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Slovenia, Sweden, and across the United States for three days of networking and presentations in the categories of Materials and Heat Treatment, Applications, Design and Rating, Efficiency, Lubrication, and NVH, and Manufacturing, Inspection, and Quality Control.

The following awards were presented:

  • AGMA Chairperson’s Award: Allen Bird, retired, instructor for AGMA.
  • Next Generation Award: Caleb Gurd, Eaton Corporation.
  • TDEC Award: Todd Praneis, vice president, Technical Division, AGMA.

At the end of the meeting, the Best Presentation Award was presented to Dr. Franco Concli, Prof.-Ing., Free University of Bozen-Bolzano.

“We are so fortunate to have such a long list of volunteers that help AGMA in all of its technical efforts and serve the gear industry,” said Matt Croson, president, AGMA. “Our standards have been the foundation of what we do for more than 100 years, and it is through our committees that we are able to continue this expert-led work and form the tip of the spear for our industry in emerging technologies.”
