Officials of Philadelphia Gear Corporation—a full-service provider of gearing and power transmission solutions—have announced the hiring of Charles L. Zirkle as the company’s new on-site technical services project manager. Zirkle comes to Philadelphia Gear after 34 years in various capacities of increasing responsibility with Horsburgh & Scott Company.

For the last five years of his tenure with H&S Zirkle served as field services manager, contributing significantly to the company’s growth. He was directly responsible for such functions as on–site machining, gearbox rebuilds and project management, field tear downs and reinstallations, and reverse engineering. Prior to that he held the positions of operations manager, maintenance superintendent, plant engineering manager, and enclosed drive designer.

According to Philadelphia Gear President Carl Rapp, Zirkle will coordinate the new On-Site Technical Services product offering, working closely with the company’s five regional service centers to provide complete coast–to–coast coverage and afford the company’s customer base with another important aftermarket service. “As we establish the full capability of this new line of technical services here at Philadelphia Gear, there is no one in the industry better suited to spearhead our effort than Chuck,” says Rapp. “Bringing on an individual of his caliber demonstrates our commitment to building and expanding our service model.”

Zirkle’s educational background includes an associates degree in mechanical engineering from Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland, Ohio.
