Nidec Corporation has acquired Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Machine Tool Co., Ltd., from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. The company designs, manufactures, and sells machine tools, cutting tools, and related products.

The U.S. branch is now Nidec Machine Tool America and remains in Wixom, Michigan.

“Nidec Machine Tool America will continue to deliver support, service, parts and sales for all our machine tools,” said Scott Knoy, VP Sales. “We have a new name and continue our commitment to customers.”

The company started its business in 1936 for the manufacturing of lathes in Hiroshima, Japan, and has grown its business while supporting Japanese manufacturing for many years. Nidec Machine Tool Corporation designs, manufactures, and sells machine tools, cutting tools, and related products and provides after-sales services for the products and has highly professional personnel in addition to its long-nurtured technologies. Nidec Machine Tool Corporation has a top market share in Japan with its main products, which include gear cutting machines and gear grinding machines with high accuracy and efficiency, double-column-type machining centers and other large-size machine tools, and laser and semiconductor manufacturing equipment with unique cutting-edge technologies.

Nidec Corporation has a view of further expansion of the machine tool business and believes that, with necessary investment, the business will be able to play a major global role in its group.
