Stahli USA has introduced the next generation of high performance Flathoning machines into North America. The Model DLM 705, which will be on display at IMTS 2004, features a whole new construction and allows for processing speeds in excess of twice that of existing models in the market. While maintaining the same sub-micron tolerances that Stahli is known for, the revolutionary design provides for enhanced stock removal rates and lower cost-per-part.

The unique dual-wheel design enables both sides of workpieces to be ground simultaneously. With process controlled machining, integrated computer assisted measurement, and low wheel wear, an excellent cost-performance ratio is established. In the Stahli Flathoning process the same or greater precision is achieved with fixed abrasives compared to conventional loose abrasive lapping or grinding.

In most applications, the need for pre-machining or secondary grinding is eliminated. Workpieces are held in carriers enabling continuous loading/unloading which increases machine uptime. The open bridge style "05" series of Stahli DLM machines readily adapt for an automated or conveyorized workpiece handling system from both sides of the machine.
