Mike Lewis has been named North American sales manager for ANGUS Chemical Company–a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Dow Chemical Company–and Dow Biocides, succeeding Greg Jorjorian, who retired in May. Lewis assumes the sales manager responsibilities in addition to his current role as North American distribution manager.

Lewis joined Dow in January 1990 in the commercial development program. In 1991 he accepted a sales position in Chicago with Dow’s plastic-lined pipe business. In 1995 he moved to a sales position in specialty chemicals and was named a Six Sigma Black Belt for specialties sales in 2000.

In 2001 Lewis transferred to ANGUS Chemical Company, and, continuing his role as a commercial Black Belt, became a certified Six Sigma Black Belt in 2002. That same year he joined the ANGUS sales organization with responsibility for key ANGUS accounts and North American distribution. With the consolidation of ANGUS and Dow Biocides leadership in 2004, Lewis was appointed North American distribution manager for both businesses. He earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of Lowell, Massachusetts, in 1989. He is the recipient of two Dow Pinnacle Awards for Sales Excellence, in 1998 and 2002. This award honors the "best of the best" of Dow’s sales professionals based on success in meeting customer, business, and individual goals.

In addition, ANGUS has streamlined its North America and Canada Distribution network for its specialty chemical products portfolio. The changes, effective July 1, 2005, provide a network of specialty distributors best able to service the needs of customers in North America.

"Our effort to streamline our distribution network is aimed at making it easier for our customers to do business with us," says Lewis. "Our knowledgeable distribution network will handle sales, marketing, customer service, and order fulfillment for U.S. and Canadian customers with smaller purchase quantities and special service requirements, allowing our direct sales team to focus on developmental efforts with new products."

The revised distribution network is broken down as follows:

  • Entire U.S: Ashland Chemical [www.ashchem.com]
  • Midwestern States: Barton Solvents [www.barsol.com]
  • Western States: E.T. Horn [www.ethorn.com]

  • Northeastern States: Monson [www.monsonco.com]
  • Southeastern and Gulf States: Lintech [www.2lintech.com]
  • Entire U.S. (metalworking fluids only): SeaLand Chemical [www.sealandchem.com]
