Fixtureworks, a leading supplier of workholding and fixturing technologies has augmented its One-Touch Fastener lineup with the addition of a heavy-duty version of the retractable clamping/knob locking fastener. The heavy-duty versions provide high clamping force up to 450 pounds (2000N)  and holding force up to 1,120 pounds (5000N).

These heavy-duty retractable fasteners provide positive locking in quick change applications where there is frequent insertion and removal of a fixture.

The retractable pin feature allows the fastener to safely slide off from the base without interference, making them ideal for slide and door applications. The new fasteners will not release until the knob is turned to the “OFF” position, allowing the balls to retract into the shank and allowing the shank to be raised out of the way of the base plate for no interference.

QCWESA fasteners are designed to pair with the QCWES receptacle that is mounted to a base. The receptacle is used on both the heavy-duty versions, as well as the standard versions of  the fasten-ers.  Turning the knob engages/disengages the ball-lock mechanism in the shaft to lock/unlock from the receptacle. The knob, body, balls, and spring are all made from stainless steel.

In addition to the new heavy-duty QCWESA fasteners, Fixtureworks also offers other retractable-type clamping fasteners including standard and heavy-duty versions of the QCTH-series, which use a cam-locking system to lock onto the receptacle.

Fastener-receptacle pairs replace nut-and-bolt assembly so that operators can lock and and unlock plates, panels, covers, machine components, and more without the use of tools.
