The Series 12K vertical machining centers from CHIRON America, Inc., are designed for high performance, high productivity precision machining operations.

The modular system design of the Series 12K allows it to be configured as a single spindle (FZ 12K) or dual spindle (DZ 12K) machining center. The Series 12K machines offer a chip-to-chip time of 1.9 seconds, and the CHIRON-patented tool changer uses digital direct drives to complete exchange cycle takes only in less than one second to achieve maximum productivity by minimizing non-productive time.

A rugged 4.5-ton cast mineral machine bed gives the Series 12K machining centers excellent damping characteristics, thermal stability and extreme rigidity. The machine bed also provides a motionless counterbalance for traverse speeds of more than 3,500 IPM (90 m/min) with up to 2Gs acceleration. The fully enclosed, coolant tight work area with stainless steel covers and steep sides guarantee efficient chip flow.

One or two spindle rotary tables can be integrated for complete machining of complex parts in one setup. Swiveling doors allow fast and easy loading and unloading of workpieces, keeping changeover time to a minimum. The CHIRON FX 12K and dual spindle DX 12K VMCs have X, Y, Z travel of 21 x 12 x 14 in. (550 x 320 x 360 mm) and spindle speeds up to 15,000 RPM.
