In the current KISSsoft Release 2020, the Toolox steels from Swedish special steels producer SSAB are included as a new option for through-hardened steel.
Toolox is delivered already heat-treated to tensile strengths up to 1,450 MPa and is produced in both bars as well as plates with pieces cut to size. Combining the strength with a high toughness and excellent fatigue resistance makes Toolox the right choice also for demanding applications.
According to SSAB, surface hardening such as laser, nitriding, and induction can further improve the component performance. The steels are delivered with a very low level of internal stresses, making it possible to reach close tolerances in machining even for large components such as big gear racks.
