Thomas J. Lang, vice president and general manager of Kapp Technologies for the past 15 years, retired from the company at the end of 2006 in order to pursue personal interests. Lang, who is 54, launched Kapp Technologies’ Boulder, Colorado, facility in 1991 and has been instrumental in the growth of Kapp and Niles products within North America since that time. The company currently has 40 employees and does business throughout North America under the name of Kapp Technologies. His duties have been assumed by James Buschy and Bill Miller. Buschy, manager of Technical Services since 1991, became vice president and general manager on January 1, 2007. Miller was named vice president of sales in September of 2006. Both men have extensive experience in the gear industry, and with Kapp and Niles products.
The gear manufacturing industry has played a prominent role throughout Lang’s career. In 1989 he and a business partner started Aerocom Industries, a gear and special form manufacturing company. In 1978 he worked as a production engineer for General Cable Corporation, and later as a development engineer at Advanced Energy Technology, where he began his career in the gear industry. Working initially in design, he moved to manufacturing technology, where he became familiar with gear and form hard finishing processes. He graduated from the University of Colorado in 1978 with bachelor’s degrees in mechanical engineering and business.
