REGO-FIX will showcase the benefits of its powRgrip® Toolholding Collet system at this year’s WESTEC show. Visitors to booth #2840 will experience the system’s ability to generate extremely high clamping forces equal to and, in most instances, higher than shrink-fit holders.

In particular, those manufacturers in the aerospace, computer, communication, and consumer electronics (3C) industries will discover how this safe, precise, and cost-effective system — developed especially for high-speed cutting and high-performance cutting strategies — helps overcome the challenges of difficult-to-machine materials and long, awkward tool overhang situations as well as those involving small, intricate parts and molds and dies.

The powRgrip system is a special collet-holding system that consists of three main components — holder, collet, and press fit assembly-mounting unit — that work together to generate superior clamping force, high-vibration dampening, and extreme precision. Unlike other clamping systems where heat or hydraulics are used to expand the material, the powRgrip uses the mechanical properties of the holder material to generate tremendous gripping force with tool run-out below 0.0001 inches. Interchangeable collets are available from 1/8 inch up to 1 inch, including metric sizes, and hold both carbide and HSS tools.

Designed for easy operation and use, the powRgrip system takes less than 10 seconds to press in a tool or remove it from the holder. Because no heat is used, tools can be used immediately after a tool change. Cycle testing of the system exceeded more than 20,000 insertions and removals, outperforming other systems on the market.

The versatile powRgrip product line offers several special ancillary technologies and accessories as well as specific sizes that further optimize machining operations in the aerospace industry. Large size powRgrip PG 32 collets are especially well suited for machining components made from Inconel® and titanium, and REGO-FIX’s secuRgrip technology, which combines powRgrip’s tremendous gripping strength with a patented locking key system, provides an added degree of confidence for applications such as heavy-duty material removal and the machining of expensive castings or complex parts. Plus, available Xtended Length Toolholders enable operators to tackle machining applications that require longer reach or present clearance challenges.

Likewise, computer, communication, and consumer electronics manufacturers can tackle the specific demands of small complex parts and molds with the slim-nose PG6 toolholders that provide exceptional access when drilling or milling tight, difficult-to-reach features. These same shops can also benefit from Hi-Q® balancing rings that can be used with Type H toolholders to allow precision balancing of the system up to 80,000 rpm depending on the balancing rings used.

WESTEC 2017 is September 12-14, 2017, at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles, California.
