Gleason has introduced a new segmented collet for its workholding that delivers significant improvements for the clamping of both cylindrical and bevel gear bores from as small as 20 mm in diameter up to 100 mm in diameter.
The single-angle style collet addresses the need for exceptionally long-lasting, accurate clamping with a simpler design and the use of a new elastomer compound and injection molding process. Life cycles can vary depending on production conditions. Preventative maintenance is recommended.
The new collets are available in eight different sizes, with each model featuring a particularly wide expansion range of 0.762 mm (0.030”) to more readily accommodate a variety of different bore clamping applications and help ensure long wear life and ease of loading.
In addition, they can be applied to the complete range of Gleason workholding, including the latest tool-less quick-change models, and used in conjunction with all types of Gleason and non-Gleason production machines.
The collets are also easily ground to specific customer application requirements and are available more rapidly and on demand from any of Gleason’s production facilities worldwide.
