On Monday, December 19, 2011, AJAX broke ground on its new 15,000 square-foot machining facility, which will eventually create 25 new jobs. County, state, and city officials including York Mayor Eddie Lee gathered along with AJAX employees to celebrate. City Council members called the announcement “an early Christmas present,” saying “we are thrilled to be partners as we grow in York County.” State Senator Wes Hayes, chairman of the York County Legislative Delegation, thanked AJAX for making a significant investment.

“This is an exciting first step in our long-term growth strategy,” according to Simon Ormerod, AJAX CEO. “Expanding our machining operations is a logical progression for AJAX, allowing us to grow our business and provide more value to our customers.” The new machining facility is anticipated to be completed sometime in the second quarter of 2012.

In other news, as part of its continuous improvement efforts, AJAX can now supply material to customers that require PED 97/23/EC compliance. This approval is needed for customers that plan to supply components to the European Union that are used for pressure equipment applications for use in pressure vessels, oil and gas pipeline equipment, steam generators, and pressure accessories. Material traceability is key to this certification and has always been a top priority at AJAX. A copy of the certificate may be downloaded at www.ajaxring.com.
