Fixtureworks® now offers the CP740 Flex retractable clamping locator for changing various attachments and components for both small and large fixtures.
This retractable quarter-turn locator provides locating and clamping in one operation and allows sliding movement. Designed for quick change applications, the locator locates and fastens in a single operation— without the use of tools.
The CP740 Flex retractable clamping locator is used with the CP745 locating receiver. In combination, these parts are designed to be mounted on fixture bases and plates to allow for accurate locating and positioning. The retractable pin feature allows the clamping fastener to safely slide off from the base or plate without interference.
The center shaft retracts so that it lies flat and does not protrude from the underside of the plate, allowing for positioning and clamping after the unit has been slid into place. Retractable Flex Locators can be used on a wide variety of fixturing applications and allow for precise repeatability of ±0.02 mm when mounting. This allows a fixture plate to be mounted on different bases very accurately when moving to a new machine or different operation.
When the knob is rotated a quarter turn, the balls on the pin expand and lock the fixture in place. These locators will not release until the knob is turned to “OFF”, allowing the balls to retract into the shank and allowing the shank to be raised out of the way of the base plate for no interference and no-tool use. The locator body is made from 303 stainless steel, the knob from 304 stainless steel and the shaft from pre-hardened electroless nickel-plated steel. The balls are made from stainless steel.
The CP740 features a pin diameter of 16 mm, shaft length of 29.5 mm and clamping force of 562 lb., all while weighing less than one pound.
