As part of its commitment to U.S. manufacturing, Mazak Corporation will broaden its sales, service, and applications support in Northern Texas as InterTech Machine Tool Sales president Bernie Lopez retires from the industry as Mazak’s long-time distributor in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
Mazak will build upon InterTech’s success by merging that company’s sales, service and support teams with those of Mazaks. InterTech’s account managers will transition to become Mazak Corporation employees, forming one unified sales and marketing organization in Texas.
“We wish Mr. Lopez all the best in his retirement, having been a great partner in growing Mazak’s business in Northern Texas,” said Brian Papke, president of Mazak Corporation.
According to Papke, Texas, with its strong ties to the oil and gas, aerospace, and defense industries has always been an extremely important market segment for the machine tool builder, and the intent is to expand its presence in Texas.
“We believe the decision to merge InterTech’s initiatives with our own is a logical and effective step on working even more closely with our customers in Dallas and neighboring areas,” said Papke. “These efforts, along with our Southwest Technology Center in Houston, will ensure our customers in Texas continue to get the most advanced manufacturing technology and complete turnkey solutions. The organization in the area will grow and provide even faster localized service and applications support and training.”
Originally founded in 1978, Mazak’s Southwest Technology Center underwent expansions in 1982 and 2011 with a third on the horizon to keep pace with the area’s rapid growth. The Southwest Technology Center, which is currently 30,000 square feet, is located on 4.5 acres of Mazak-owned land in the Greenspoint District, a community 15 miles north of downtown Houston and minutes from Bush Intercontinental Airport.
