In a release dated January 20, 2003, Gleason announced it has significantly improved the opportunities for finish grinding high precision gears with its new 400GX Threaded Wheel Grinder.
The Gleason 400GX meets the need for fast, economical finish grinding of the highest quality gears for aerospace and other precision applications up to 400 mm diameter, 8.0 module. DIN1/2 (AGMA 14/15) quality is achievable for most parameters.
In addition, significant improvements in overall cycle times have been achieved through use of direct drive spindles for the grinding wheel and worktable spindles. Grinding surface speeds of up to 60 meters/second are now possible.
The 400GX is also designed to conserve on precious floor space. The use of the latest FANUC CNC controller with a Windows-based software interface will also help make the 400GX particularly easy to own and operate.
