Ceratizit will present a free online seminar on its new WTX-Micro High-Performance and High-Performance Deep Hole mini-drill portfolio.

The seminar airs at 9 a.m. EST/8 a.m. Central on February 8. Attendees will learn how the WTX-Micro tools generate precise holes with superior surface finishes and concentricity in challenging material applications, including those involving micro hole dimensions and extremely tight tolerances.

During the seminar, Ceratizit’s Winfried Gerung, technical trainer, and Rainer Walcher, product manager – research and development, will showcase product details and performance features of the drills. They will also discuss micro deep hole drilling strategies and machine tool requirements and report on results of comparison tests and benchmarking data. A live question and answer session will follow the presentation.

WTX-Micro High-Performance drills range from 0.8 mm to 2.90 mm in diameter and from 5xD to 20xD in length-to-diameter sizes, while WTX High-Performance Deep Hole Drills come in diameters from 1.00 mm to 2.90 mm and in length-to-diameter sizes up to 30xD. The 5xD version of the micro drill is well suited for use as a pilot drill for the deep hole drills thanks to its special drill point geometry that is self-centering to eliminate the need for pilot-drilling/center drilling in applications up to 8xD.

WTX drills feature lapped surfaces and patented chip evacuation design for fast, efficient, and reliable chip removal. The tools are made from an ultra-fine carbide grade and are coated with Ceratizit’s innovative Dragonskin DPX74M. The special carbide grade ensures consistent tool quality, while the Dragonskin coating controls heat and reduces tool wear. Spiral coolant holes and a power chamber run the entire length of the drill shanks and keep cutting edges cool for longer tool life.
