Jamie Jones Promoted To Vice President of Operations Of Solar Atmospheres Of Eastern PA; Dorran Schultz Named New Project Engineer

Solar Atmospheres of Eastern PA recently named Jamie Jones as its new vice president of operations. Jones has been with the company for 19 years in a variety of departments and served as General Manager of Operations for the past seven years.

In his new role, Jones will oversee the day-to-day operations of both the heat treating facility in Souderton, Penn. and the brazing facility in Hatfield, Penn. His responsibilities include the direction and management of maintenance, scheduling, shipping/receiving, customer service, training, purchasing, and staffing. He will also work closely with the quality and sales departments to ensure that customer requirements are consistently being met.

Corporate president Roger Jones stated, “Jamie has built up a wealth of knowledge in all areas of our heat treating and brazing business and more specifically with our facilities and equipment. We are fortunate that the tremendous growth at Solar Atmospheres (in which he played a large part) has opened up an opportunity for Jamie to take on an even greater level of responsibility. Jamie is a member of ASM and currently serves on the ASM Liberty Bell Chapter Executive Committee. He is also a member of the Metal Treating Institute (MTI), serves on their board of trustees and has taken a number of metallurgical and heat treating courses through their training program.

In related news, Dorran Schultz recently joined Solar Atmospheres of Eastern PA and will serve the company as a project engineer. Mr. Schultz has over twenty-five years of experience in research and development. and will be working on numerous technical and R & D projects at Solar Atmospheres.

His initial assignment is to conduct a study of metal oxides and nitrides related to part surface color development. The objective of this study is to identify resultant colors numerically, which can be related to vacuum furnace residual atmosphere and used for diagnostic and analytical purposes. Results will be measured with tristimulus colormetric data derived from a recently purchased Hunter Lab ColorFlex EZ Model diffuse reflectance spectrophotometer.

Vice president of research and development Don Jordan noted, “We are continually looking for new ways to improve our processes and better serve our customers. Dorran’s wealth of research experience will be very helpful in this area.
