ASM International announced Dr. Navin Manjooran has been appointed president of the ASM International for the 2024-2025 term.
With more than two decades of global leadership and technical expertise, Manjooran brings a wealth of knowledge in materials science, engineering, and advanced technologies to this prestigious role.
Manjooran is a long-standing member of ASM, a Board of Trustees member, an ASM Fellow, and ascends to this role after recently serving as the senior vice president of the ASM International. In addition to his role as ASM president, Manjooran currently serves as Chairman of Solve, a global technology and research services company addressing critical energy, industry, medical, and infrastructure challenges.
His distinguished career includes nearly a decade in senior global leadership at Siemens AG, where he oversaw international collaborations, strategic development, and innovation across the Siemens portfolio. Throughout his career, he has made significant contributions to the advancement of materials science and engineering, organizing more than 37 international symposia, and having more than 200 publications or presentations. He has 12 patents or disclosures and 12 books in the field. He is a Fellow of ASM International, American Ceramic Society (ACerS), Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3), and Indian Institute of Metals (IIM).
Manjooran’s academic and professional accomplishments are extensive. He holds a bachelor’s degree in metallurgical engineering from the National Institute of Technology (NIT Warangal, India), a master’s degree in materials science and engineering from the University of Florida, and a doctorate in materials science and engineering from Virginia Tech. He also has an MBA from the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago and his executive management education from Harvard University. His many accolades include the Distinguished Virginia Tech Alumnus Award (ISA) and the University of Florida Alumnus Award (MSE), among many others.
Beyond his contributions to ASM International, Manjooran holds leadership roles with the University of Florida, Virginia Tech, and several prestigious engineering and technology organizations worldwide. He is also an adjunct Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at Virginia Tech. He has also served on the several boards including the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors, University of Chicago Board of Trustees, and on the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) energy initiative board.
Manjooran began his tenure as president of the ASM International Board of Trustees on October 1, succeeding Pradeep Goyal.
