ZPS, a company of the Milan-based TAJMAC Group, has formed a new venture, ZPS America, LLC, to support and sell directly its line of multispindle CNC machines, branded Mori-Say, in North America. Olaf Tessarzyk will be the managing partner in this company, which will be a unit of TAJMAC Group. ZPS America will officially begin operations in January 2009 in a modern 20,000 square-foot building in Indianapolis.

The company will directly import to the United States advanced technology European machine tools that are affordably priced. From its new headquarters ZPS America will provide sales, factory-trained service, extensive parts inventory, local applications support, and training. Sales to Mexico and Canada will be through distributors.

The Mori-Say TMZ 642 CNC with a double Siemens CNC offers a nearly unlimited number of CNC axes. The machine is provided with all options and includes capabilities that make it desirable on today’s precision machining floors: quick changeover; simple intuitive programming; single-point presettable tooling; complete serviceability over the Internet; and teaching software. Each of its six independent spindles is linked by a composite shaft to its own motor, located away from the spindle drum. This design eliminates slip-ring connectors and the need to disconnect/connect the motors from the spindle at each index of the drum. Importantly, this design also eliminates the need to cool the spindle drum, assuring its mechanical stability without the use of refrigerant or spindle compensation.

TAJMAC Group has operations in Italy, Czech Republic, and France. It also owns Wickman Coventry, based in the U.K. In addition to the Mori-Say multispindle CNC machines the group produces a wide array of metalworking machine tools including machining centers, Swiss turning machines, automatic lathes, gantry-type milling and turning centers, and special machines as well as machining centers for Okuma. TAJMAC-MTM, the heart of the group, concerns itself with the development of turn-key multispindle lathes.
