Sandvik Coromant is pleased to announce its support for America’s skilled workforce at the annual 2011 SkillsUSA National Championships, which was held June 21-24 in Kansas City, Missouri. This is the tenth consecutive year that Sandvik Coromant has participated in the Precision Machining Technology Championships.

SkillsUSA is a national nonprofit organization consisting of students, teachers, and professionals that work together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. The National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) coordinates the Precision Machining Technology and CNC championships based on NIMS Levels I and II Machining Skill Standards. Beginning at a local level, the contests continue through to state and national levels. These competitions are designed to showcase the best career and technical students in the nation.

Sandvik Coromant, among other key industry supporters, played a key role in organizing, judging, and managing the separate contests. Sandvik Coromant provided the necessary tooling for the contestants to use during the competition. “It is a privilege to participate in the SkillsUSA National Championships,” says Keith Crawford, manager of Technical Support at Sandvik Coromant. “We are proud to support an organization and competition that is so focused on the future of our industry and our workforce.”
