As a full-service provider of gearing and power transmission solutions, Philadelphia Gear has announced the reorganization of its service center management team to include proven service-oriented leadership in two of its regional maintenance facilities. Tony Tartaglio has been named general manager of the Western Service Center, and Barry Hall has been appointed Midwest Service Center general manager. Additionally, Nels Mitchel will assume Tartaglio’s position as regional sales manager for the Western Region.

Tartaglio brings 30 years of experience with Philadelphia Gear to his new role as general manager. Most recently he served as sales manager for the Western Region from 2001 through 2003, where he was responsible for customer service and field sales. In his new position, he has the additional responsibility of overseeing the operation of Philadelphia Gear’s Western Service Center, which is located in Lynwood, California. Tartaglio spent 12 years in field sales throughout the Northeast, as a salesman, district manager and, later, as regional manager. He started with Philadelphia Gear in 1973 and has held positions in application engineering, as well as management roles in engineered products, precision gearing, aftermarket sales, and field sales.

"In spending my entire professional career with Philadelphia Gear, I’ve been afforded the opportunity to take 30 years of company knowledge and apply it to our daily business and operations," says Tartaglio. "My goal is to leverage that knowledge to continue our aftermarket business growth in the region, building a support organization and facility that both responds to our customers’ needs and also meets our corporate objectives."

Hall looks to retain existing customers and profitably secure new aftermarket business as the general manager for the Midwest region. In this role, he’ll oversee both sales and services activities throughout the region, as well as the operation of Philadelphia Gear’s Midwest Service Center, which is located in Mokena, Illinois.

Hall joined Philadelphia Gear after serving as both a director and vice president for the Fairbanks Morse Engine Division of the Goodrich Corporation. Prior to that assignment, he spent 16 years in increasing levels of responsibility with Cooper Energy Services at several different locations.

"Through sales growth and operational efficiency, I feel that we can accomplish the goals we’ve identified for the Midwest region," says Hall. "Our company leadership is strong, our people are committed, and our direction and focus are clear. The business model we have in place today is spot-on relative to growth, customer service, and profitability."

Mitchel will direct and manage Philadelphia Gear’s Western region sales force, along with maintaining certain key account responsibilities. Located in Salt Lake City, Utah, he brings significant aftermarket sales experience and leadership to this new role. Mitchel has more than 10 years of experience in industrial equipment repair, most recently as solutions account manager for SKF, U.S.A. Prior to that he was manager of engineering and quality control for Energy Machine Service. Mitchel earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Wisconsin.

"The goal of our management reorganization is to put in place a more operations-oriented team that will work closer with our customer base," says Carl Rapp, president and CEO of the Philadelphia Gear Corp. "With the skill sets that Tony, Barry, and Nels bring to their increased responsibilities, we feel we’ve put in place a team with extensive front-line service experience that is up for meeting that challenge."
