Mahr Federal Debuts New MarShaft Scope 600 Plus 3D at IMTS 2016

Mahr will introduce the new MarShaft™ Scope 600 Plus 3D at IMTS 2016, Booth #E-5614, making its U.S. debut appearance. Also on display will be the MarGear GMX 400 and the MarSurf® CNC premium surface finish system.

Combining optical and touch sensors in the same unit, the MarShaft Scope 600 Plus provides 3D functionality and complete inspection of the workpiece in a single measurement. In a matter of seconds, the matrix camera optically measures characteristics such as diameter, length, radius, shape, and location characteristics, while a new 2D sensor detects features that are not optically measurable, such as cam lift on concave cam profiles and reference (clocking) features such as holes or keyways.

The MarGear GMX 400 is a Class 1 Universal Gear Tester that provides fast, accurate analysis for a wide range of gear and gear tool applications on gears with ODs up to 400 mm (15.75 inches). Part of the Mahr GMX series, the GMX 400 incorporates a 4-axis Power PC controller with automatic tailstock and a high-accuracy 3D scanning probe head. The GMX 400 provides a solution for both universal and specialized gear- manufacturing processes.

The GMX series is designed to provide maximum precision and flexibility of gear and form measurement in a single system. Equipped for standalone shop floor or gear lab applications, the GMX 400 can also be fully networked for fast and efficient transfer of measuring results and machine corrections. The GMX series provides Class 1 accuracy in accordance with VDI/VDE 2612/2613 Group 1.

Also at IMTS, Mahr will be exhibiting the MarSurf CNC premium Type 1, a fully automatic roughness and contour measuring system designed to work on the shop floor and meet the needs of fully networked factory environments. Especially efficient on smaller workpieces and hard-to-reach spots, the MarSurf CNC premium generates fully automated measuring sequences and can be adapted to provide inline measurement for closed-loop control of production machines. Built around the highly precise MarSurf LD 130 and incorporating Mahr’s automatic probe arm changing device, the MarSurf CNC premium has a vibration isolation system and an enclosure to mitigate environmental effects such as temperature, vibration, acoustics, and humidity. High measurement speed ensures efficiency, and statistical evaluation of each feature allows effective closed-loop control of the manufacturing process.
