LMT-Fette Introduces Inch Versions of HSC Feed End Mill

Now available in inch as well as metric sizes, LMT-Fette’s HSC FeedÅ continues to offer true high feed capability in a solid carbide end mill. It is designed for roughing and semi-finishing of hardened die & mold steels. With chip loads up to .031" per tooth and cutting speeds in excess of 650 sfm, it is common to run HSC Feed at table feeds exceeding 500 ipm.

LMT-Fette designed the HSC Feed with an exceptionally tough sub-micrograin substrate and LMT’s superior AL2 plus PVD titanium aluminum nitride coating. This yields the best combination of wear resistance and toughness. High feed milling of materials such as P20, H13, and S7 with hardness up to nearly 60Rc are common applications for the HSC Feed. It also performs exceptionally in carbon steel, alloy steel, cast iron, and stainless steel.

LMT-Fette’s unique bottom radius design allows the HSC Feed to rough at chip loads three to five times higher than conventional solid carbide, ball nose end mills. This capability leads to significantly higher metal removal rates, and dramatically improves the cost performance of tooling.

LMT’s HSC Feed offers a unique center cutting design that performs exceptionally well in a wide array of applications, including 3D contouring, pocketing, helical interpolation, and slotting. In fact, the geometry of the HSC Feed leaves less stock in the corner pockets than a conventional ball nose end mill. This improves efficiency while reducing the number of tools required to finish a mold. New inch models of the HSC Feed range in size from 3/16" to 1/2" in both long and short styles.

LMT-Fette blends precision engineering with application expertise, resulting in advanced metalworking solutions that increase up-time, productivity, and product quality. LMT-Fette will continue to be on the forefront of metalworking technology with new products in milling, turning, tapping, thread rolling, and gear cutting.
