KAPP Technologies has announced it will be the distributor of R&P Metrology GmbH for North America. Founded by Hans Rauth and Chris Pumm, R&P Metrology designs and builds gear metrology equipment, concentrating on medium and large parallel axis gears, bevel gears, tools, shafts, bearing rings, and 3D parts. The range starts at approximately 1.0 meter in size. Extended capacity requirements for large applications and customizing are the specialty of R&P Metrology. R&P also offers hybrid systems that uniquely combine gear measurement with conventional CMM metrology. A retractable tailstock makes these hybrids a “no compromise” solution for the combined technology.

The RPC 1000 is a completely new flexible solution for combining highly precise measurements of form deviations on ring type and cylindrical parts. A direct drive rotary table along with linear motors in the x, y, and z axes provide extreme precision.

All R&P machines utilize proven CNC control and analysis software, which will be familiar to users of the Wenzel GearTec systems. R&P Metrology also incorporates granite guideways with air bearing slides, a benchmark for the industry.

“Kapp Technologies and R&P Metrology share markets and philosophies,” said Hans Rauth, president of R&P Metrology. “We devote extra effort to produce special products to suit our customers’ demanding applications.”

Bill Miller of Kapp Technologies sees the collaboration as a benefit to customers who need lab equipment to measure ground gears and other cylindrical parts. “The range of precision required for metrology is quite similar to that of gear grinders. In fact the rotary workpiece table is of the same design,” Miller said, “Excellent service is a hallmark of Kapp-Niles to the benefit of our customers, and we will carry this forward in support of R&P Metrology systems in North America.”

Support, service, and sales for North America will be provided by Kapp Technologies in Boulder, Colorado. For more information about R&P Metrology please contact Mr. Dwight Smith, sales manager at KAPP Technologies at 734-516-1365.

KAPP Technologies was launched in 1984 by the KAPP GmbH in Coburg, Germany for the manufacturing and re-plating of KAPP CBN and diamond-plated grinding wheels. Shortly after, a sales arm was established for KAPP as well as NILES grinding machines. KAPP Technologies operates from a 34,000 Sq. ft. facility in Boulder, Colorado where in addition to manufacturing grinding wheels, it houses KAPP and NILES machines, a full service department for North American customers, and a fully-stocked parts department.
