The Discover More With Mazak–Southeast event will focus on part manufacturing solutions, specifically for those shops working in the aerospace, automotive, medical, and other key regional industries. The two-day event is scheduled for April 30 – May 1 at the Mazak Southeast Regional Headquarters and Technology Center in Suwanee, Georgia, and will run daily from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Attendees are encouraged to come prepared with their most challenging industry-specific parts and projects for expert guidance in advanced machines and automation to overcome those manufacturing challenges and increase productivity.

Mazak will demonstrate full 5-axis and multi-tasking machining technologies, as well as its unique 3-4-5 The Next Level of Productivity manufacturing solution. 3-4-5 is the industry’s most comprehensive grouping of manufacturing resources, and one that encompasses Mazak’s 3 Levels of Control, 4 Levels of Automation, and 5 Levels of Multi-Tasking. 3-4-5 allows manufacturers to effectively identify the right level of technology, including automation, needed for improving their specific operations and advancing productivity to the next level.

Mazak will feature a wide range of advanced machine tool technology in action including the Horizontal Center Nexus (HCN) 5000-II Horizontal Machining Center and the company’s smaller, space-saving Vertical Center Nexus (VCN) COMPACT 3- and 5-axis models of Vertical Machining Centers. The HCN 5000-II, with 40 hp, 12,000-rpm spindle and 2,362 ipm rapid travel rates, offers speed and power. And for larger workpieces, the machine’s table size is 19.7” square, and its axis travels measure 28.7” in X and Y and 29.1” in Z.

Mazak’s VCN COMPACT was designed to meet the needs of shops serving today’s medical industry and any others requiring the machining of smaller, very complex, high-precision workpieces. With robust, high-torque 20 hp, 12,000-rpm CAT 40 spindles, both machine models deliver the aggressive performance required for tough materials, such as stainless steel, Inconel, and titanium, used in medical and other manufacturing applications. Optional 40 hp, 20,000-rpm CAT 40 and 40 hp 30,000-rpm HSK-F63 spindles are also available. The VCN Compact 5X 5-axis model is equipped with Mazak’s new MATRIX 2 CNC control specifically designed for optimized 5-axis machining.

Other machine technologies demonstrated will be Mazak’s Quick Turn Nexus 250M Multi-Tasking Machine with turning and rotary tool milling capability; an INTEGREX i-Series Multi-Tasking Machine for high-speed, high-power milling and heavy duty facing; and a VARIAXIS i-Series Machining Center that provides full, simultaneous 5-axis capability for machining multiple and complex curved surfaces on large, heavy workpieces in single setups.

Attendees will have full access to the Southeast Technology Center’s regional industry expertise and application engineering resources. Engineers and technicians will be on hand at the machining demonstrations to answer questions and discuss all aspects of the manufacturing process, including cutting tools, workholding, automation, material handling, quality assurance, chip handling, coolant, safety, and software. Attendees can also visit Mazak’s Value Inspired Partners (VIP) kiosks at the event for additional technology and applications support.  Southeast event registration information is available on www.mazakusa.com.
