Carl Zeiss Industrial Metrology, LLC, announces that it has built the 3000th CONTURA G2 CMM (coordinate measuring machine) in the United States, which was delivered to a medical product manufacturer in Connecticut.

Introduced in December of 2005 as an ideal solution for small and mid-sized companies wanting the benefits of high-speed scanning, the affordable CONTURA G2 has been a huge success. “Customers quickly see the advantage of our total system design, where ZEISS scanning technology is built into the machine, controller, sensor, and software,” says Chris Grow, U.S. vice president of marketing. “In over 20 years at Carl Zeiss, I’ve never seen such a strong demand in such a short time.”

Manufactured at the North American headquarters in Maple Grove, Minnesota, the CONTURA G2 features the next generation scanning platform and is available in three configurations: direkt, RDS, and aktiv. All models use ZEISS VAST® technology and offer high accuracy with either articulating scanning or active scanning. Besides the U.S., IMT also has manufacturing sites in Germany and China.
