The Kansas City, Missouri, facility of Paulo Products Company has successfully passed the audit and has been awarded certification to ISO 14001:2004. Created by the International Organization of Standards, ISO 14000 represents the environmental standards for organizational excellence throughout all industries. Critical activities involved in achieving ISO’s environmental standard are developing systems to identify key aspects within the organization and determining the impact on the environment. This requires management commitment, in-depth training, and understanding of all employees at the Kansas City facility.

Charlie Bernard—Paulo Kansas City’s quality manager—credits three essential factors in achieving this challenging accomplishment: A strong commitment from the plant manager, Ninan Idiculla, and corporate support for training; a solid action plan creating a vision for excellence and successful completion; and a robust but simple foundation regarding Paulo’s environmental policy.

Paulo-Kansas City is the first Paulo facility to become certified to ISO 14001:2004. This achievement compliments the facility’s Nadcap and ISO 9001:2008 registrations. Paulo is committed to pursuing excellence throughout the organization regarding external standards and certifications.
