The machinery is currently in operation at The Reid Gear Company, which is closing due to the retirement of their Managing Director Tom Reid. The Reid Gear Company was founded in 1897 in order to fulfill a burgeoning demand for the design and manufacture of gears and gearboxes, primarily in the Clyde engineering industries. Over the past 100 years the company’s products have been and continue to be used by a wide variety of industries such as sugar processing and steel production.
