ASM International and four other world-class materials societies are working together to create the only event spanning the entire spectrum of materials science and engineering: Materials Science & Technology 2005 (MS&T ’05).

MS&T ’05 will be held Sept. 25-28 at the Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh. The organizing societies are ASM International (ASM), American Ceramic Society (ACerS), Association for Iron & Steel Technology (AIST), American Welding Society (AWS), and The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (TMS).

The MS&T technical program will be comprised of 40 symposia organized in the following technology tracks: Computational Methods, Emerging Technology; Life Prediction; Materials Science; Processing and Manufacturing; and Surface Engineering. Each track will feature a diverse mix of presentations ranging from cutting-edge R&D to applied industrial practices. Organizers anticipate an accompanying MS&T Exposition that will feature more than 500 exhibitors.

America’s leading heat treating event, the ASM Heat Treating Society Conference & Exposition, will be co-located with MS&T 2005 to add another important dimension of materials- and process-related coverage. Held every two years, the ASM Heat Treating event provides networking and learning opportunities for the entire heat treating community, including captive and commercial heat treaters, researchers, manufacturers, suppliers, and customers. Exhibitors at the largest American heat treating exposition will include leading furnace manufacturers, testing suppliers, commercial heat treaters, industrial gas suppliers, auxiliary parts suppliers, and manufacturers of control equipment.

Prospective authors are invited to submit a 150-word abstract–please visit the Web site listed at the end of this release for topics–by March 15, 2005, using CMS-Plus; the TMS conference management system. Abstracts may be submitted at [cmsplus.tms.org]. Those with questions or requiring assistance should contact TMS Technical Programming Services at (724) 776-9000 ext. 212, or send e-mail to raabe@tms.org.
