The Inductoheat VSM-95Å vertical scanning machine is tooled up to process axle shafts. A major Midwest automotive supplier selected the VSM-95 based on the machine’s rugged design and flexibility afforded with its advanced PLC based controls. The VSM-95, with options supplied, is able to process a broad range of axle shafts. This is accomplished with the machine’s "motorized rotary tap switch" and "servo controlled upper carriage" assembly. Changeover between parts within a diameter range is fully automatic. Actual run data including critical processing parameters are uploaded to a central computer on each individual cycle that the machine processes. Several major axle shaft manufacturers have contracted Inductoheat to supply systems of this type. Each system is modular and cellular in the regard that the VSM-95 stands free and is easily integrated. Feed rate requirements are accommodated with proper power supply size selection. Various diameters and case depths are accommodated with proper frequency selection.
