Bourn & Koch and Star SU Announce Agreement

Timothy E. Helle, president of Bourn & Koch, Inc., Brad Lawton, president of Star Cutter Co., and David W. Goodfellow, president of Star SU LLC have announced that a mutual agreement between Bourn & Koch and Star SU has been reached for the consolidation of sales activities of each company’s respective machine tool product lines. The intention of this agreement will be to consolidate all sales activities under Star SU LLC. The enterprise will be owned and managed by an executive committee made up of members of each respective company and will become effective by July 1, 2005. The merger creates the addition to the Star SU comprehensive gear machine tool product line a complementary line of gear hobbers, grinding machines, Fellows gear shaping machines, and includes Acme, American Tool, Barber Colman, Blanchard, Brown & Sharpe, Bullard, Conomatic, DeVlieg, Fellows, Ferguson, J&L, Mattison, Motch, MWMC, New Britain Machine, Springfield, RMT, Roto-Tech, White-Sundstrand, including replacement parts and rebuilds, Rotary Transfer and Rotary Trunnion Machining Centers, Extrusion Milling Machines, and special purpose machines throughout North America.

The combined enterprise will benefit all chip making manufacturers by providing a single, competitive, and efficient precision machine manufacturing, remanufacturing, and rebuild source. Further details of the sales and organizational structure of the new combined company will be announced at a later date. Star SU is the merged enterprise of the Star Cut Sales Company of Farmington Hills, Michigan, SU America, Inc., the U.S. sales and manufacturing unit to Samputensili, S.p.A, and WINCO Industries of Tipp City, Ohio. The companies represent three of the world’s largest gear machine, gear tool, and round tool manufacturing producers. The headquarters of Star SU are located in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.

Bourn & Koch Inc., which is located in Rockford, Illinois, is a privately owned manufacturer and rebuilder of gear hobbing, shaping, grinding and inspection machines, and other machine tools.
