The American Gear Manufacturers Association is pleased to announce the appointment of Charles S. Fischer as vice president of the association’s Technical Division, effective March 1, 2007.

Fischer joined the AGMA in 1994 after 19 years at Philadelphia Gear. As a senior engineer and assistant manager of the AGMA’s Technical Division, he has been responsible for liaison activities with many AGMA Technical Commit¬tees, standards editing, educational meetings, and assisting with the ISO stan¬dards development process.

Making the appointment, AGMA President Joe T. Franklin, Jr., says “AGMA is fortunate to have an employee like Charlie who is well versed in both the technical activities of AGMA and in business management issues.

“In his 20 years with the AGMA, Bill Bradley has broken new ground for the association and the industry, especially on the international front,” Franklin continues. “I know that Charlie will continue AGMA’s long tradition of technical excellence and, because of his knowledge of business issues, will be key to better integration of the technical solutions with the industry’s business needs.”

AGMA Chairman Stan Blenke—also executive vice president of Schafer Gear—praised the decision. “Promoting Charlie is well-deserved recognition of his contributions to the industry and the association and, more so, to his vision for both the department and the AGMA as we move forward.”

Ed Lawson—chairman of AGMA’s Technical Division Executive Committee and director of metrology, Gleason M&M Precision Systems—agrees. “From working with Charlie on a number of projects, I know him to have a great love for our industry and for the AGMA,” he says. “I know that his detailed understanding of the technical needs of the industry and the capabilities of the AGMA will be of great value.”

Fischer holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Drexel University and a master of administrative science degree from Johns Hopkins University. He can be reached at (703) 838-0058, or via e-mail at fischer@agma.org. The association’s Web site is [www.agma.org].
