Philadelphia Gear Corporation is increasing its international presence. Company officials promoted Jorge Flores to regional sales manager for the Latin American region, including Mexico, Central, and South America. With more than 30 years experience, Flores has distinguished himself as a strong customer relations and technical advisor for an elite client base.

Reporting to him will be Silvio DeSimone as sales representative for the Latin American region. DeSimone has nearly 20 years of power transmission equipment sales experience, most recently with Enol Industrial Queretaro as general manager.

“These personnel changes demonstrate a clear commitment to building a worldwide presence,” says CEO Carl Rapp. “We are not servicing new regions with manufacturer’s reps, but rather with our direct employees. These individuals embody the philosophies of Philadelphia Gear and have been charged with literally and figuratively translating the commitment and identity of our company to the global marketplace.”

According to Rapp, these expansions represent the company’s ability to service its customers and maintain growth. “Though investment in overseas markets has more risk, it represents enormous opportunity to better serve our customers around the world,” he says. “Smart growth in our target markets will reinforce our technical leadership position among our customers and potential customers.”

It is predicted that over the next 25 years, more than two-thirds of the world’s economic growth will come from outside the United States. Therefore, Philadelphia Gear’s active role in Latin America, Europe, the United Kingdom, the Middle East, and the Pacific Rim countries today is critical for its long-term success.

A founding member of the American Gear Manufacturers Association (AGMA), Philadelphia Gear offers products and services found in use worldwide; from conveyor gear drives used in long wall coal mining operations to emergency repair services critical to the power generation industries.
